Conceptual Design for a new church building, which will include a 350 seat Sanctuary, a Fellowship Hall, Classrooms and Offices. The central goal of the design is to create a space for worship that is sacred, through the use of scale and natural light. Another focus is economy: cost-effective strucutral systems and materials are used to keep initial costs low; while sustainable practices, such as passive solar, are followed to minimize future utility and maintenance costs. The building is designed as an assembly of smaller buildings so that construction can be phased without leaving the building with an ‘unfinished’ appearance between phases. This design aspect also allows for future additions to more easily blend in to the complex. The congregation has purchased the land, and is currently fundraising for the building’s construction costs.
